An Update on Primary Health Care and Home Care Renewal in Canada
(revised: February 20, 2008)

This report calls for action to accelerate primary health care and home care renewal efforts across Canada. Primary health care and home care touch the lives of most Canadians. But both of these foundations of the health care system are stretched and in need of reforms: care is not always available when people need it, and is not always as comprehensive as it should be.

We learn from Canadians about their recent experiences with primary health care and home care, and we report on activities underway across the country to improve access to care for patients who need it.
