Shirley Hawkins
Director, Stakeholder & Government Relations
Shirley is the primary contact between the Health Council of Canada and the federal, provincial and territorial health ministers of participating jurisdictions and Canada's key health agencies, professional organizations and advocacy groups. Prior to joining the Health Council, she was involved in various health-related communications activities, including Director, Communications for the Smart Systems for Health Agency in the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. She also worked in community engagement for the federal government in the Secretary of State's Citizenship Branch in Ottawa. For almost 20 years, she has embraced the challenge of bringing the ‘voice' of clients into organizations and held positions in both the private and public sector in areas such as consumer affairs, communications and customer satisfaction measurement. She has a BA in Sociology and an Honours Bachelor of Journalism. |
